About the product One of the easiest mushrooms to grow for beginners, experienced growers have used this mushroom as a learning tool for cultivating in hardwood chip beds or mulch.  What makes this mushrooms perfect for beginners is also the ease of identification, nothing looks like it.  It quickly colonizes wood chips and fruits a little in the spring and typically a bumper crop in the fall. About the product A Chestnut Mushroom is the same mushroom as White Button Mushrooms, but it is a strain that grows just a bit browner instead of white, giving it a tan-coloured top.  They are very much like Cremini Mushrooms and about the same size. About the product Maitake (my-tah-keh) is the Japanese name for the edible fungus Grifola frondosa.  It is called the dancing mushroom probably because of the excitement generated by finding it. It works for me. It has a distinctive smell and flavor. About the product Polyporus umbellatus is a "butt rot" that fruits terrestrially, near the bases and roots of hardwoods across northern North America.
